Axis – Yahoo’s New Browser for Smartphones and Windows

Yahoo introduced a new browser named Axis that works equally on smartphones and Windows.

According to VentureBeat, the browser runs on iPad and iPhone as a separate standalone browser and as an extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, with support for Android and Windows Phone coming soon.

What is special about the Axis Browser extension:

Since a lot of browsers are already used on iPhones, iPads, and Windows pc, then why Axis…? The answer is given by Yahoo:yahoo axis browser

First of all, Axis is a browser extension that can be used equally with Chrome, Firefox, or Mozilla. Moreover, Yahoo itself called it a “search Browser”.

That’s why Axis offers a faster, smarter search with instant answers and visual search previews.

The search bar, complete with horizontally-scrolling site previews, mimics what Axis looks like on a desktop computer.

Visit the official Axis page for more info.

Let’s see whether it competes with the other browsers in the market or not.

Google Project Glass – Smart Project by Google Revealed

What will you say about the glasses that you are wearing?

Can you make a video call using them, or can you trace your friend or some coffee shop… of course not, but I can tell you that all the above is possible, how…?, Google will answer.

A couple of days ago, Google has just unleashed what looks to be the most innovative product yet called  Google Project Glass.google project glass

What is Special about Google Project Glass:

This project, which is developed by the Google team, aims to make our lives completely hands-free. The device is capable of taking photos, doing check-ins, getting directions, video chat, listening to music, and getting directions.

The actual device is a pair of wrap-around glasses with a clear display that sits in front of your eye (the left, for now),  and leaks surrounding the glasses have been popping up for months. It’s a fully integrated Google Apps experience.

What’s more than this, the project could potentially not just sit around your head – this tech could get as close to your body as a contact lens.

The image you’re looking at right now is a contact lens being developed by Google X, which Google X employee Babak Parviz notes allows pixels to be sitting right on top of your eye.

See the video below to explore chat, navigation, video, music, and much more on Google Project Glass.

  • USES of NFC Technology in Smartphones for Wireless Communication

USES of NFC Technology in Smartphones for Wireless Communication

Hi friends, many of us have heard about NFC technology while roaming around the globe, but some of them (including me) may not be familiar with this term…so let’s see what NFC is? and its use in Smartphone applications.

    What Is NFC?

Near field communication, or NFC, allows for simplified transactions, data exchange, and wireless connections between two devices in proximity to each other, usually by no more than a few centimeters.

Emerging NFC standards allow users to transfer information by touching devices like smartphones, Apple, Samsung Galaxy, and many more.

It is expected to become a widely used system for making payments by smartphone in the United States.

Many smartphones currently on the market already contain embedded NFC chips that can send encrypted data a short distance (“near field”) to a reader located, for instance, next to a retail cash register.
    NFC-N-Mark-Logo

Shoppers who have their credit card information stored in their NFC smartphones can pay for purchases by waving their smartphones near or tapping them on the reader, rather than using the actual credit card.

Co-invented by NXP Semiconductors and Sony in 2002, NFC technology is being added to a growing number of mobile handsets to enable mobile payments, as well as many other applications.

Uses of NFC technology in Android phones in daily life:

The following are the common uses of NFC in our daily routine.

    NFC and Social Sharing:

NFC simplifies and expands social networking options:

    • File-Sharing: Tap one NFC device to another to instantly share a contact, photo, song, application, video, or website link.
    • Electronic business card: Tap one NFC device to another to instantly share electronic business cards or resumes.
    • Electronic money: To pay a friend, you could tap the device and enter the amount of the payment.
    • Mobile gaming: Tap one NFC device to another to enter a multiplayer game.
    • Friend-to-friend: You could touch NFC devices together to Facebook friends with each other, or share a resume, or to “check in” at a location.

    Bluetooth and WiFi Connection:

NFC can be used to initiate higher-speed wireless connections for expanded content sharing.

    • Bluetooth: Instant Bluetooth Pairing can save searching, waiting, and entering codes. Touch the NFC devices together for instant pairing
    • WiFi: Instant WiFi Configuration can configure a device to a WiFi network automatically. Tap an NFC device to an NFC-enabled router.

    E-commerce:

NFC expands eCommerce opportunities, increases transaction speed, and accuracy while reducing staffing requirements. A Personal Identification Number (PIN) is usually only required for payments over $100 (in Australia) and £15 (in the UK).

    • Mobile payment: An NFC device may make a payment like a credit card by touching a payment terminal at checkout or a vending machine when a PIN is entered.
    • PayPal: PayPal may start a commercial NFC service in the second half of 2011.
    • Google Wallet is an Android app that stores virtual versions of your credit cards for use at checkout when a PIN is used.
    • Ticketing: Tap an NFC device to purchase rail, metro, airline, movie, concert, or event tickets. A PIN is required.
    • Boarding pass: An NFC device may act as a boarding pass, reducing check-in delays and staffing requirements.
    • Point of Sale: Tap a SmartPoster tag to see information, listen to an audio clip, watch a video, or see a movie trailer.
    • Coupons: Tapping an NFC tag on a retail display or SmartPoster may give the user a coupon for the product.
    • Tour guide: Tap a passive NFC tag for information or an audio or video presentation at a museum, monument, or retail display (much like a QR Code).

So, from the above-detailed introduction about NFC, the time will come when every industry of smartphones will be occupied by this way of Communication.

    • A broadband internet connection and an available Ethernet jack on the router
